To me, the concept of a 'Shaman' within West Coast Traditional Cultural practise, represents a 'voice' or 'a spiritual aspect' of the community that appeared and evolved within the historic community, and was based in the will, the ability and the power of the human mind to overcome adversity. The Shaman played the role of attempting to activate that power within the individual and the community. Today there are aspects of the potential of the human mind that remain unexplored; which is to say that a rational mind must remain open at least to the contemplation of such potential.TGR 2009
